Slovenian CoFFee CULTURE

Well since I spend quite some time everyday drinking coffee I wanted to share some of my thoughts on what can be considered one of my favourite drinks (sorry BEER). We in Slovenia are quite a coffe drinking people but the problem is that the coffee we drink has become much more expensive eversince we got the Euro. The notion of special blends and good import coffee (lokin at you Guatemala Antigua + Blue Mountain) is quite alien to the general population because people just go for a coffee so they can mingle and meet :) .My pesonal experience with such daily rutines is that the coffeshops decline in coffee quality and most importantly staff personell quality. In our country most of the service industry people are NOT proffesionals because they are students on student jobs (We have an intricate network of student job centers here). The good thing is that it keeps the personell costs low so you can imagine that we have a huge amount of cafes in Slovenia. The bad side is that profesionals wont work for the wages these cafes offer so the whole quality thing is outa whack. Now my gripe is that the price of the drinks has been goin up to as high as 2 euro a cup wich is ridiculess as the students who work there get less than 4 euro an hour.
So all in all we need a big philosophy change in this subculture of the service industry.

So what is coffee drinking like in your countrys---Discuss!!!
